Ravinder Singh (Ravinder = Lord Sun; Singh = lion) Well, I really do not know where I should start. I guess the easiest would be to say that I was born (February 13th, 1975) and raised in Brantford, Ontario, Canada (www.city.brantford.on.ca). It has been the home to many great people like Wayne Gretzky, Alexander Graham Bell, Phil Hartman, James Hillier, and Joseph Brant. My Sikh parents (Rawal Singh and Ranjit Kaur) of Indian origin immigrated to Canada in the early 1970’s. I am the middle child with an older brother, Onkar Singh, and a younger sister, Raminder Kaur. I was brought up with traditional Indian values, and ethics of the Sikh religion, which I still continuously learn about and uphold. Academics has led me to become a general surgeon (McMaster University 2006) with a special interest in laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery (McMaster University 2008). The state of health has gained tremendous awareness over decades and centuries. Not only dealing with physical health, more and more people are seeking stability to their emotional and spiritual health. Growing up there was always a strong foundation of emotional and spiritual well-being with the practicing of Sikhism (through devotional music, kirtan, and meditation, naam jup). Interestingly enough, my brother has pursued a career in naturopathic medicine (www.ndoc.ca) which has gained a tremendous interest in the public. The future holds for a symbiotic relationship between allopathic and holistic medicine. |
