There are many religions in the world today, each having uniqueness in their beliefs.  If you envision the spokes on a bicycle wheel to be all the religions in the world, they all lead to the hub of the wheel-the common goal (God).  But, one can also look at starting at the hub and visualize all the births of all the religions (spokes), and see that they are all interconnected somehow (rim of the wheel).  Through belief, one builds a foundation to travel along this life’s journey with peace (just as the rubber wheel if adequately inflated provides a smooth ride to the rider).

Sikhism is a relatively young religion (founder Nanak, now remembered lovingly as Guru Nanak-b1469), but has about 25 million followers around the world.  Although I was born into a Sikh family, my individual belief was always there. I always thought the religion provided a sense of discipline which was essential to develop a sense of focus, inner focus. Through this, one could meditate (through hymns, kirtan, or through verse, naam jup, or through repetitive verbal or non-verbal discourses, simran).
